His legal troubles extend beyond arrests. Armstrong was named in a March 2023 class-action lawsuit accusing him of promoting unregistered securities through Binance. The lawsuit, seeking over $1 billion in damages, also included NBA star Jimmy Butler and fellow crypto influencer Graham Stephan.
Once a prominent crypto influencer, Armstrong built a large following through his YouTube channel, BitBoy Crypto, where he shared news, analysis, and investment insights. However, his reputation has been marred by controversy, including allegations of substance abuse and erratic behavior.Â
In August 2023, he was removed from the BitBoy Crypto brand by its parent company, BJ Investment Holdings, due to concerns over his conduct.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the specific content of Armstrongâs emails to Judge Childs.Â
